What were you like back in high school? Who did you hang out with/date?

"I was quite the hipster back in high school, but I was also an artist. I made a lot of my own clothing and shoes so I was certainly a walking masterpiece. Most of my friends were similar to me in that way. They were all a little quirky and had a passion for the fashion industry. Through my sophomore year, I dated only women but at the beginning of my junior year, I met my first boyfriend. That ended in disaster, but I was so in love that I dated mostly men after that."

Were you a porn fan before you got into the industry? Who were your favorite porn stars/favorite porn movies?

"I was a fan of porn before I got in the industry and my taste has really evolved over the years. I started off watching porn in high school but discovered I was more into gay male/male porn than straight male/female porn. That lasted through college. Then, when I started to transition, I found that I enjoyed straight porn more. I really love alternative porn with stars like Charlotte Sartre, Leigh Raven, Nikki Hearts - beautiful androgynous women like them. My favorite male porn stars would have to be Lance Hart and Small Hands in the straight porn industry, and Jake Bass in the gay porn industry. Yum."

What kind of scene have you found is your favorite kind to do?

"My favorite kind of scene to perform in is hard to say. I really enjoyed the orgy and gang bang scenes I've been in this year, but I really love just boy/girl or girl/girl scenes where I can focus all my energy on one person. I love to bring a lot of energy to my scenes and that's hard to do juggling three or more other performers."

What/who do you want to do on-camera that you haven’t done yet?

"There are still so many things I want to do on camera that I haven't been able to, and a couple performers I would like to work with. I would love to do a more artistic scene. As I mentioned earlier, I love alternative porn. I would love to do some of the things they are able to do, like get tattooed on camera, play around in a pool or hot tub, just bring more of an artistic element to the film process. I can't really say specifically who I would like to work with aside from maybe Lance Hart and Pierce Paris, but I would really like to work with more trans women in the coming year. Grooby released an amazing scene of Chanel Santini and me and it was not only an instant hit, but also a lot of fun to do. It was the first hardcore I had ever done in the industry and she taught me a lot and made me love trans women even more."

Who is your favorite performer to work with and why?

"This one is really difficult for me, because there are so many performers that I absolutely adore working with. At the end of the day, Gabriel Dalessandro has to be my favorite performer to work with. We always have so much fun on set together, he's very handsome, and our bodies just work together. We are able to silently communicate really easily, which is super important when you're doing something as vulnerable as having sex on camera. On a side note, I love Jaxton Wheeler's penis. You respond to your fans a lot on Twitter. What do you like most about talking to your fans on social media?

"I love talking to my fans on Twitter because I rely on their feedback to produce good content. Quite simply, I listen to what they have to say and I do something about it. There have been a lot of ups and downs for me this year in my personal life, and without their validation and support I probably would have given up my career. I also love to see so many diverse people coming together to support me and to support the industry. It's really beautiful to see fans from all over the world sharing photos and comments."

How did you become a porn star? What led you down that career path?

"I actually have Buddy Wood of Grooby to thank for my success. He discovered me last summer at Club Cobra in North Hollywood where I work as a go-go dancer. At the time, I was a sex worker and was miserable and very unhappy. Shortly after meeting him, I decided to shoot a couple solos with him to see if it could be a way out of escorting. l have always loved being in front of the camera, as I had a short modeling career before I transitioned, so it was a lot of fun! I was able to get in touch with myself sexually and not feel bad about it. Maybe six months passed before I was convinced to do a hardcore scene. Once that hardcore was released, my career really took off."

What do you most want to achieve in the industry?

"I am so grateful to have been nominated for so many amazing awards this year including the TEA show hosted by Grooby, AVN, and XBIZ, but winning awards was never my goal when I decided to enter this industry. What I want to achieve most is confidence in myself as a person, as a performer, and as an advocate for the transgender community. I have had so many amazing opportunities in one short year in the industry, and have really been given a platform to speak to my trans brothers and sisters. So I really just want to utilize this platform to give back to my community in whatever way I can. Sex can be one of the greatest or one of the worst parts of being human and I hope that my work inspires others to get off, get down with their bad self, and step out of their comfort zone."

What did you enjoy most about working for/with Grooby?

"Working for Grooby has been a blessing in many ways. Not only did they kickstart my career, but they have kept it going. In the times when work was slow, they were always there to ensure that I was able to support myself. In many ways, they are family to me."

What do you think that people assume about trans porn stars that just is not true?

"I think the number one thing people assume about trans porn stars that just is not true is that we all use our penis and we all enjoy using it. Not true. At all. There is only one scene that has been released where I genuinely enjoyed using my genitalia to top another individual. I wish more people understood that being on bottom just feels right to me. It feels good, I enjoy it, I perform best on bottom. I think a lot of girls in the industry feel this way, but they don't have a way to vocalize that. Until now, only tops were being nominated for awards. Only tops were being recognized as true trans porn stars. I speak on behalf of trans women everywhere when I say being a power bottom feels good and deserves just as much recognition. So no, not all of us like to use our dicks, not all of us can cum thick, white loads, and bottoms are hot!"

What do you think are “must-have” DVDs for your fans?

She has been by my side this entire time, so I adore her loyalty and her leadership. Chanel Santini was the first trans woman I had sex with on camera so I think I will always look up to her for that. And last but not least, Aubrey Kate, because she is my girl crush forever and I've had the opportunity to see a really vulnerable side to her that I was able to connect with instantly."

What is the best mainstream movie you have seen recently?

"Fun fact, I am deathly afraid of movie theaters. They are loud, dark, and there are two tiny little exits all the way by the screen. Needless to say, I don't go to the movies all that often. The last mainstream movie I saw in theaters was Doctor Strange and it was great. The most recent mainstream movie I saw was Death Note. I loved the characters and the soundtrack was great, but overall not my cup of tea. I'm more of a TV, Netflix kind of person myself."

How about the best porno movie? Is there someone whose movies you like to watch who is working now?

"I actually don't watch trans porn anymore because all I can think is 'I know her, fucked him, wow, that's an interesting position.' But I like to watch my porn on Tumblr anyway. I get bored so easily so I like to scroll through and watch GIFs. My favorite position aesthetically is man-on-top missionary so I love the blog "Cool Missionary" on Tumblr. What is coming up for you?

"In the coming months, I am looking forward to launching a clothing line called OTHENTIK apparel. I have been working hard to put together the perfect fabrics and cuts so that the clothing can be worn for both physical activity and casual street wear. Over the next year, I hope to bring more merchandise to my fans including t-shirts, calendars, and posters. I have also been working on a series of short erotic stories. "For any new performers out there, build a brand. If you want to go far in any industry, it all starts with having a vision story. Who are you? What do you like? Who are your friends? What do you look like? What do you hope to accomplish? What is your message? This is something that I'm still working on, but I'm Annabelle Lane and there's no one like me and there will never be anyone like me because I have put genuine thought into branding myself through my vision story."
