A Nice Long Chat With This Dreamy Pansexual X director!
I caught up with the gorgeous Natassia Dreams over Fourth of July weekend and she was delightful to talk to and super excited about her latest project, Evil Angel's Pansexual X. The first DVD Porn Crush will be released 7/21 and is available for pre-order on the Fleshbot store. We talked about an array of topics, so read on and get to know this lady who has done and is doing some incredible things in the porn world!
Hi Natassia! How was your holiday?
“So, I did not take July 4th as a holiday, being woke and now knowing about the history of our country. I did take it as a holiday as in a day off but I saw it as more of a second Juneteenth celebration, so it was just us celebrating our road to freedom. We still have a ways to go, but we now have more ways to get there.”
Tell us about Pansexual X and the movie Porn Crush. What drew you to the project?
“Aiden Starr who is the producer contacted me initially and I love Aiden --- she’s been a really good ally. She’s good at putting people where they belong and she contacted me and said “I know we’ve worked together for a long time and I have this idea for this website and I know you’ve been in the industry for awhile and I want to build something together that we build from the ground up to put you at the forefront to get you the recognition you deserve. I want you to act and direct [for Pansexual X]” and honestly, that really touched my heart because she put herself second and me first. That is what we need right now as people of color and minorities at this moment, to be given opportunities to move forward. Aiden and I share the same sentiment that we’re fed up with people not being given opportunities they deserve so she put her money where her mouth was and signed me on to direct and star through Evil Angel who she had pitched this idea to. Aiden and I are both pansexual and industry veterans and we know that performer based scenes are so much better than producer-based scenes just in terms of the whole flow of the thing. We wanted to make something authentic and unique and just change up and break down the binaries and eliminate the systemic racism in porn.”
What were your favorite aspects of your scene with Charlotte Sartre in Porn Crush?
“I had never worked with Charlotte, I had worked with her husband Lance Hart, who I adore. Their relationship was always curious to me because he can be submissive and likes a lot of ass play and I didn’t think he’d marry a woman but he talked about her often so I was curious about her to begin with. I wanted to explore her sexual role and energy and see what we can come up with together. When Aiden mentioned her, I immediately said yes to working with her in that scene. I think the contrast is so amazing, her being so pale and white and me being so dark-skinned and she has, like, the hottest body ever, and she has the prettiest pussy and natural tits. We’re both very Goth and it was a perfect match. I was very excited to see the sparks that would fly between us.”
What’s your favorite thing about directing? What would you like to direct down the line?
“The thing about directing is I am being given the power to do what I want to do, what comes natural with the other performers. When I was in makeup with Charlotte we had a bit of a moment to feel each other’s vibe and energy, construct the roles we were going to play. I want to know what my scene partner likes, what turns them on, and I think that helps me to make scenes that aren’t just work, they’re art. We want to create art, not just a product.”
I, being Pansexual, was excited to see the word Pansexual and tbe colors of the pan pride flag on a porn box cover! Only one other porn movie in recent history even has that word in the title. In addition, we’re now seeing non-binary performers become more commonplace, we’re seeing bi male action in more places, etc. Do you see the porn world eventually opening up to a more fluid notion of sexuality and gender? Why or why not?
“So I think that porn educates people. It educates them about sex and they take it into their own lives and their own experience of their sexuality. Porn, like all entertainment, should be evolving. I’m glad we’re creating this initiative to accept different looks and bodies. It’s no longer all about blonde haired blue eyed girls and not all transwomen are exclusively tops, for example. Adding different bodies and diversity, breaking norms and stereotypes is a great thing. As a transwoman, I’ve done a lot of things I didn’t really want to do on camera just so I could get a paycheck. We need to get rid of these uncomfortable situations and provide an authentic product that everyone had input on, that everyone feels good about. The human body is a vessel of pleasure, why deny that? We are aiming to expand people’s notions of sex, we want to tell guys it’s ok if you want to have sex with your girlfriend and suck a dick at the same time, for example.”
I, for one, am very glad that trans porn is finally becoming so much better than it once was, and you and other stars being recognized properly for their work with the TEA awards and such but there’s definitely lots more work to be done. What types of things do you want to see happening for trans porn and porn as an industry to be more equitable and socially aware? What sorts of structures and institutions and barriers do you see that need to be broken down for trans performers? In short, how do we, the journalists and talent of the adult industry help to smash the patriarchy and the gender binary?
“The inherent stereotypes and binary that are constructed around transwomen as performers needs to be broken down. Not all of us are these ass hungry creatures that are uber aggressive sex machines and just want to fuck every ass that comes along. Trans women like to be penetrated too. There should be no problems and judgement around that, [the judgement around this] needs to go out the window. Also, “trick” and “trap” scenes have to go because that doesn’t go on in real life and it’s a harmful stereotype. Trans women need to be elevated and no one needs to be put in a box or painted in a derogatory light. Trans women need to be photographed beautifully and put on the splash pages and the box covers and the pop-ups and all of the other things we see with cis contract performers. People who are unique and living true in their skin as well as people of color need to be elevated on a pedestal in the industry press where they often go with the safe, profitable choice instead of taking risks. If it doesn’t work, then it doesn’t work, but trying is better than not trying.”
Tell us about your own journey to porn and how you ended up on that path.
“I worked at a porn shop when I was 18 and I was introduced to the world of porn. It was very glamorous and the porn stars back then were mainstream celebrities-- they were on talk shows like Howard Stern and they had roles in mainstream movies. They had elegance and class and commanded respect. Jenna Jameson was amazing because she was so strong and owned her truth and totally capitalized on being in porn and was unapologetic about it. I always admired her for that and I never thought that would be my path, but I started getting into different types of sex work that led me in to porn. I’m a very sexual and sensual person and have a high sex drive so it was a natural progression for me. The porn industry was the safest place to channel this type of energy due to it being a highly regulated environment. Having grown up in the age of HIV, I had a lot of trauma and paranoia around that and the industry was a safe place I could provide for my transition and my well-being. I never knew I was going to be at the great place I am right now, never in a million years, but I always knew I would be good at whatever I chose to do, because that’s how I operate as a person.”
How did you pick your porn name? What were some rejected porn names, if you had any?
“I was in my early 20s, and had been traveling to Europe and fantasized about Russian and European women with class and glamour and expensive tastes, and wanted a name that carried that feeling of power and class. The supermodel and actress Nastassja Kinski was one that came to mind so that’s kind of how I got Natassia. And my last name, Dreams, is about working on fulfilling my dreams--- dream girl, life is a dream, etc. I combined those two names into a whole persona, a rags to riches girl who grew up poor in public housing and and became a star.”
What did you want to do as a career/calling earlier in your life?
“Well, first I wanted to be a woman, and then I always wanted to be a social worker. I always wanted to give to people who did not have what they needed and I wanted to give back to the community. I never really wanted to be rich. I came from no money so having a lot of money wasn’t really a big factor. I wanted to help people. And I help people differently now. I help people explore themselves sexually. I’m content with that. “
What is your favorite adult film of all time and why?
“That I’ve done or in general? [I say either/both is fine]. My favorite scene that I’ve done was a Wicked Pictures scene with Jessica Drake [in 2018’s Carnal with Drake, Ana Foxxx, and Sean Michaels]. It was such a big production and an amazing set and it was really my first big job for a non-trans studio. I don’t really watch a lot of porn in general but I love bisexual scenes--- there’s nothing more hot than a man who is secure in his sexuality, interacting with multiple genders on a sexual level. I love that. I like Biphoria, anything by Wolf Hudson also, I haven’t seen this yet but there is a threesome with Wolf, Daisy Taylor, and trans male performer Triple X that I really want to see.”
What is the last book you read/listened to? Do you recommend it? Why or why not?
“I read Why Men Love Bitches by Sherry Argov. I tend to read a lot of magazines and articles online, Vanity Fair has a lot of really intelligent articles that are inspiring to me. I like to be stimulated.”
What are five music albums/CDs you’d need to have if you were stuck on a desert island?
“Lemonade by Beyonce
Paper Trail by T.I. especially the songs featuring Rihanna
Ungodly Hour by Chloe x Halle
Stevie Wonder’s greatest hits
Michael Jackson’s greatest hits
With all those songs I can be in my own little world.”
What’s your favorite “treat yo self” kind of thing when you need a pick me up?
“I really love fragrances--- expensive French perfumes (current favorite is Maison Francis Kurkdijan Paris Oud silk mood), body products, lotions, creams, anything for pampering your skin, anything that helps your skin look great. Anything that benefits and protects my shell-- the physical body that contains my essence-- infrared sauna, steam room, massages, aromatherapy, bubble baths-- caring for the outside and inside, physical and mental health. I have little routines like on Mondays I have my personal trainer in the morning, therapy in the afternoon, and a treat after like I will go to the sauna, or buy myself a Diptyque candle for instance. Something that makes me feel like a princess.”
What’s the strangest thing we’d find in your purse/ bag if you emptied it right now?
“That would probably be my new reading glasses. I just got them like two weeks ago and I’ve never worn glasses before.”
What’s your favorite meal?
“Probably a nice homemade Italian pasta dish with everything from scratch--- fresh pasta, fresh sauce, Parmesan and Pecorino sprinkled on top. I also love a fresh grilled Mediterranean white fish-- I probably have that once every two weeks at my favorite restaurant here.”
What are your hobbies and passions outside work?
“I’m very active, I love working out-- I have a personal trainer and enjoy the gym. I take self-defense classes which are a good idea, being a Black transwoman. I’m also working on my mental health through meditation and therapy. I’m into decorating and organizing my home and simplifying my life. I’ve had a hard life and I want it to be simple now. I love having dinner with friends and learning things by watching documentaries about different topics and learning new languages so I can talk to my friends all over the world. I study fashion because I model for fashion as well.
Do you have any pets? What kind and what are their names?
“I have no pets currently. I was going to get a miniature pinscher and I bought all the things I needed and got everything ready to bring them home, picked out a name and made a vet appointment, and it turned out that the breeder I was working with was actually a scammer. I’ll probably get a dog when I’m not going to be traveling as much so I can give them my full time and attention, because it will be like my child.”
What’s your favorite dinosaur?
“Oh my God, I remember this from when i was a kid...[looks this up on her computer]….... velociraptor!
One of my favorite things about watching porn is looking at everyone’s ink-- can you tell us about your tattoos/body mods? Any future pieces planned?
“My tattoos are mainly a sign of what I was going through at the time, or a piece of where I was living, and I wanted a memory of a place that influenced me at that time in my journey. My first was when 18 and I just wanted a tattoo because everyone has them in California, so I got my deadname and I got it covered up later when I got into porn. I got another when I was 21 that says “trust no man” in Chinese on my back when I was really in a place of distrusting men. Every single one means something. I have “love” and “hate” on my wrists because they go hand in hand and I have a lot of love-hate relationships with things and places--- like with New York City, where I am right now. I’ve met tattoo artists everywhere I’ve traveled. I have a lot of family members’ names and initials and inspirational quotes in my tattoos. Everyone has their opinion on it but it's my body, so the more someone tells me not to, the more tattoos I want."
Since we’re all kind of wanderlust-y right now-- where your dream vacation? What does that look like? Where would you go and what activities would you be seeking?
“My dream vacation consists of just like, an exotic destination where it's secluded, but it's gorgeous and scenic and filled with good energy and positivity. I like the Turks and Caicos, St.Vincent and the Grenadines. I go St. Maarten a lot too. I would just have 4-5 friends each of us with our own hut on a tropical island. NO CELL PHONES! We would just have lovely food, spa treatments, conversation, we’d all swim, take some sun, no one knows or cares about anyone’s status or how much money they have, we’d just all enjoy being together.”
What qualities do you look for in a romantic partner?
“I look for honesty, security not only financial, but they need to be secure in themselves. I am a strong individual --- I’m a big a mushy baby and hopeless romantic but they need to be strong enough to break through my shell and deserve to break through that shell and show me that they deserve my attention. I love European men and being spoiled and I really love chivalry. I like being picked up, getting flowers, opening the door for me. I like someone with good morals and values.”
Who and what inspires your fashion choices? What are three wardrobe pieces (for work or not) that are essential for you?
“Spaghetti strap crop tops! I always need one! I always need to have jeans and denim in general, I feel very comfortable in the right fit of jeans. Also I need a great fragrance. With those things I can pretty much go anywhere, do anything.”
In porn you have so much skin on display at all times and it has to look great on camera. What sorts of techniques and products do you use to keep your skin looking flawless?
“I drink tons of water. I like Lush Cosmetics and Kiehl’s products. I get my moisture from the inside and the outside. I take collagen and fish oil supplements. I love a good scrub with exfoliating salt and Himalayan oils --- it gets the blood flowing and your skin glows. I think that being a good person makes you shine from the inside as well.”
What sort of scenes are you looking to make more of in the future? What projects are on the table for you right now?
“I’ve got a two-year six-scene contract with Evil Angel and Pansexual X for directing-- I’m really looking forward to complete control of casting, wardrobe, makeup, location--- I’m going to mix it up and do some things I’ve never done before. Keep an eye out for that your favorite stars because they will be doing things they've never done, a lot of unusual pairings-- Pansexual X is going to be amazing, I am excited to direct next four scenes and put pansexuality and porn that is based on performers’ creative efforts onto the map.”
Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
“Thanks to all of the fans from the bottom of my heart-- they have supported me through many ups and downs in my personal life and stuck with me through a lot. I appreciate them being there for me and give them the best of me that I can and they should definitely keep looking out for the things I'm doing now and stick with them, even if the material is new or unusual to them. They might like it!”
