As Americans, we often forget just how great we have it and the freedoms we are afforded in our country.

The first time I really got an appreciation for this was when I found out that a webmaster I’d worked with a few times over the years was sitting in a Russian prison, serving a ten-year sentence for the production of pornography.

He had paid $300 to smuggle in a cell phone to get a few key messages out, which is how we found out about his arrest. Two other major porn producers are now also wanted by the Russians and, if they were to enter the country, face life sentences.

Why? Because they produce porn. Nothing more than most of us do every single day.

Russia isn’t the only country that bans the production of adult content.

India, and Thailand have very harsh rules against it, as does Myanmar (formerly Burma).  In fact, two OnlyFans models are now facing 15 years in jail for posting naughty videos to their OnlyFans pages.

The Myanmar authorities claim it “harms culture and dignity.”

Between them, Nang Mwe San and Thinzar Wint Kyaw have well over two million followers on Instagram, but it is what they share elsewhere which could see them thrown behind bars.

While most people normally wouldn’t take the risk in countries like this, when Covid hit, many felt they had no other choice. They were without money, without food, and without jobs.

They felt OnlyFans was their only option and did what they had to do to survive. Only as time went on, they weren’t as careful about it and began posting on social media in an attempt to attract more and more fans to earn more money, and that led to them being outed and eventually arrested.

Being sexy isn’t a crime in America, even if we face harsh criticism. But in other countries, it can cost you everything, including your life.

The junta issued a statement on Friday claiming models Mew San and Wint Kyaw “distributed paid pornographic photos and videos that could … harm Myanmar culture and dignity”.

The authorities also accused the models of behaving “without the modesty which should be maintained by Myanmar women” given their content creation on X-rated sites OnlyFans and Exantria.
