Billie Eilish makes damaging statements about porn consumption

MUSIC NEWS & PRESS

Music sensation Billie Eilish opened up in a recent interview about watching porn from the age of 11 and feels that it destroyed her brain. She went on to say that she is now angry at herself for thinking it was acceptable to watch porn.

She talked about how it gave her nightmares and really messed her up when she started dating.

“I think porn is a disgrace. I used to watch a lot of porn, to be honest. I started watching porn when I was, like, 11,” the “Bad Guy” singer said, saying it helped her feel as if she were cool and “one of the guys.”

“I think it really destroyed my brain and I feel incredibly devastated that I was exposed to so much porn,” she added, saying she suffered nightmares because some of the content she watched was so violent and abusive.

The media is all over this. But I think Abigail Mac put it best when she said …

As a child, Billie Eilish’s parents did not educate her about sexuality or put child locks on her computer/phone. Now she is going through trauma from being exposed to content not made for children.

While Billie Eilish is quick to attack the adult industry, as with the media, what people should be talking about was why her parents allowed her access to such material in the first place?

This is a failure on their part. Porn isn’t made for children. Porn is made for adults. If a parent allows their children unfettered access to material that their little brains are too young to understand and process, then it can cause serious long-term damage.

I can’t help but think that the media needs to be calling out her parents for this major oversight and not the industry itself.

What in the fuck is an 11-year-old child doing watching porn?

Shame on her parents for allowing this.

And shame on the media for not taking a stand against her parent’s clearly neglectful behavior.

Let me be clear here … it’s perfectly okay to watch porn. It’s perfectly okay to have sexual desires. It’s perfectly okay to explore your body and that of others. You shouldn’t be made to feel bad about having desires. Those desires are perfectly normal.

I’m sorry that some people have such shitty neglectful parents but you can’t blame an entire industry on your shitty parent’s failures.

Billie Eilish has long struggled with her sexuality and body issues.

I would hope that those people in her life would be taking better care of her but apparently, that isn’t the case.

I just can’t imagine why the media wouldn’t call out her horrible parents for allowing an 11-year-old child to watch porn in the first place.

And before you say “but they didn’t LET her”. Yes, they did. But allowed her unsupervised access to the Internet, they in fact did let her have access to any number of potentially damaging things.

Just as if you wouldn’t let your child play alone in central park, you also can’t allow them to play alone online.

It’s the exact same thing. You just don’t do it and if you do, you are a shitty, neglectful parent.

Parental neglect is a form of child abuse.
