Ready for your Twitter Blue Checkmark? Everything you need to know!

SOCIAL MEDIA

Elon Musk announced today that anyone who wants to get verified can now do so without having to be a “person of notable interest,” as before. This new feature will become available on November 9th.

You will, however, have to pay $7.99 per month, as this new verification feature will be part of the new enhanced Twitter blue service, which is currently only $4.99.

The revamped Twitter Blue will include a range of new features, including the coveted blue check mark to anyone who subscribes, as well as cut down the number of ads served to them on the platform.

Twitter will also soon allow users to attach long-form texts to tweets.

On November 5th Elon Musk said that he would be adding creator monetization for all forms of content. However, as we know, “ALL” doesn’t always mean “all” when it comes to porn.

So it remains to be seen if he will allow adult creators to post porn as a part of the new monetization upgrade.

The problem with allowing adult content as part of their monetization means that the Twitter app could be punished by Apple and Android, forcing it to be removed from the app store, which is what caused Tumblr to block porn in the first place.

But let’s go back to the verification process. Why does verification matter? It’s not just a vanity thing.

Everyday fans are scammed out of thousands of dollars because they get confused about who they are really talking to. The theory is, by being verified, the fans will know they are, in fact, talking to the real person, not a scammer.

In addition to verifying you really are who you say you are, your tweets also get priority over others.

Let’s say Fleshbot tweets, I Love Pussy! Two hundred people may reply. But those who are verified will have their tweets pushed up higher (most visible) than those tweets by users who are not verified.

What remains to be seen is how closely the company will follow the verification process. Because you don’t want scammers out there claiming to be a famous porn star and getting the blue check because they were willing to pay the monthly $8 fee.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how all of this plays out.

Here are a few things we know for sure (Thanks to Elon Musk’s tweets)

Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended.

Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning. This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue.

Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark.

Twitter verification worldwise will be available initially in only a few countries, while they have the translation work done. It will eventually be available worldwide.

When asked when current verified users will lose their verification status, — specifically what the timeline for that change is, he replied with “couple months.”
