Tim Stokely Steps Down as CEO of OnlyFans

ONLYFANS

The popular platform Onlyfans was founded in 2016, by Tim Stokel with a £10,000 (US$13,271.96) loan from his father, Guy Stokely, who told him “Tim, this is going to be the last one”.  His brother, Thomas became the company’s chief operating officer and his father was the head of finance for OnlyFans. That was until Leonid Radvinsky, owner of the very popular and extremely successful MyFreeCams – acquired 75% ownership of the company, two years later.

At the time nobody knew that the pandemic and lockdown would change everything. OnlyFans now has 2 million content creators, an estimated 130 million users, and is rumored to have brought in more than $1.2 billion in revenue this year.

Today the company made a major announcement, and that Tim Stokley would be stepping down as the company’s CEO. In his place would be Amrapali “Ami” Gan, who previously had worked as a Marketing Executive for OnlyFans.

Tim Stokely Steps Down as CEO of OnlyFans

Prior to joining OnlyFans in 2020, Ami Gan worked with rapid growth companies and fast-moving consumer industries. She was with unicorn Quest Nutrition as the Head of Brand Communications, where Ami helped them through a rapid growth period, and for Red Bull Media House focusing on Activation & Communications. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Marketing, helping launch and rebrand the first cannabis restaurant in the U.S.

Tim Stokely isn’t going anywhere though, as he will still act in an advisory role for the company.

Ami Gan said it was Tim Stokely’s decision to step aside and name her as his successor. The two have worked together closely over the past year and a half, grappling with the explosive growth of the company and the increased scrutiny their success has invited.

“We’ve worked side-by-side sharing our passion about the creator economy,” Gan said in an interview. “Our priority is to continue being committed to being the safest social media platform in the world.”

Ami Gan declined to comment on whether the company is seeking to raise money, remains committed to sexual content, or any role Radvinsky may have played in the leadership change.

“I am proud to assume this role. I look forward to continuing to work closely with our creator community to help them maximize control over, and monetize, their content,” said Gan.  “I will be leading an exceptionally talented team at OnlyFans that is delivering a unique experience for our creators and fans. By blending state-of-the-art technology with creative capital, we are committed to being the safest social media platform in the world.”

What does this change in leadership mean for the content creators? Only time will tell.
